Taylor River Anglers is committed to making fly fishing accessible and enjoyable for everyone! Getting started in fly fishing can sometimes be intimidating, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to learn in a comfortable and relaxed environment.
That’s why we’re offering free weekly classes every Wednesday throughout the season. Topics include Introduction to Fly Fishing, Casting, Fly-Tying, Entomology & Matching the Hatch, and more. Our classes are led by knowledgeable guides and local experts. Check our schedule to reserve your spot!
The perfect starting point for beginners. We’ll cover rod setup, knots, casting basics, fly selection, and river reading. Includes a 1-hour classroom session and outdoor casting practice (weather permitting).

Learn to tie your own flies with expert guidance from JD, a competition-winning fly tyer and founder of the “Flies and Lies Social Club.” Great for beginners, but JD offers insights for all experience levels.
All materials included — take home what you tie!
Understand aquatic insect life cycles and how to match your flies to what fish are feeding on. A must-know for effective fly selection on Colorado rivers.
Pair this class with a guided trip to apply what you learn.
Improve your casting technique with hands-on guidance. We’ll help with timing, distance, accuracy, and avoiding tangles. All skill levels welcome.
